The Royal Slippers
a Tiny Kingdom story about a princess, a pair of slippers, and a prince who disapproved
In the Tiny Kingdom, where the floors glowed warm like the evening sun, lived a small but mighty royal: Princess Guusje. Though young, she had already discovered her true passion: the King’s royal slippers.
One morning, the King prepared for his stroll through the royal gardens, only to find his slippers missing.
“Where are my royal slippers?!” he called out in amazement, searching beneath chairs and behind doors.
The Queen spotted the thief first: a tiny white blur zipping through the castle halls, two giant slippers clutched proudly in her little jaws.
It was Princess Guusje. Who else?
Unable to stop the grin on her face, she told the King, “Oh, you’re on your own with this one, dearest,” she said between chuckles, watching the princess’s fluffy white tail vanish around the corner.
Prince Dingus stood at a distance, his brow furrowed in princely disapproval.
“Guusje,” he said in his most official voice, “this is highly inappropriate. Slippers do not belong in royal mouths.”
But Princess Guusje didn’t care. Onward she trotted, slipper flopping, straight to her not-so-secret lair, where she could lie down with her prize.
The King searched. The Queen wiped tears of laughter from her eyes. And Prince Dingus made a mental note to strengthen slipper security.
And Princess Guusje? She curled up with the slipper beneath her chin, tiny ruler of all royal footwear.
